Major Global Conflicts and Crises

Around the world, millions of individuals and families are caught in the crossfire of violent conflict, persecution, and political instability.

From displacement to hunger, fear to separation, the consequences of war and crisis are deeply personal, felt most by those who had no role in causing them.

Here are some of the most urgent situations affecting people right now

  • Ukraine

The war in Ukraine continues to devastate communities, especially in areas under constant missile attack. Families are displaced, separated, and grieving — yet many remain resilient in the face of immense hardship, hoping for peace even as the fighting persists.

  • Gaza

In Gaza, more than 50,000 lives have been lost, many of them children. Survivors face the collapse of homes, schools, and hospitals, with nearly 2 million people displaced in a space already under siege.

For civilians, daily life is a constant struggle for safety, food, and dignity.

  • Sudan

In Sudan, families are fleeing for their lives as a brutal civil war tears through communities. Over 14 million people have been forced from their homes, many now facing famine in regions like Darfur.

The absence of safe shelter, clean water, and medical care has created one of the world’s worst humanitarian emergencies.

  • Myanmar

Since the military coup in 2021, civilians in Myanmar have endured bombings, forced recruitment, and violence.

Ethnic communities and children are especially vulnerable, with millions displaced and cut off from basic health and education services.

  • Ethiopia

In Ethiopia, people in the Oromia and Amhara regions are caught between armed clashes and deteriorating humanitarian conditions.

For many rural families, access to food and medical help has become nearly impossible.

  • Yemen

After nearly a decade of war, the people of Yemen continue to endure unimaginable hardship.

Children suffer from chronic malnutrition, and conflict disrupts even the most basic supply chains for food and medicine. Despite aid efforts, the country remains in urgent need of peace and sustained support.

  • Democratic Republic of Congo

In the DRC, decades of armed conflict continue to devastate communities, particularly in the eastern provinces.

Civilians face mass displacement, sexual violence, hunger, and recurring attacks from armed groups. Over 6.9 million people are displaced internally, many living in overcrowded camps without proper sanitation or food. Children are recruited by militias, and basic medical care is often unreachable.

  • Haiti

A country long marked by political instability and natural disasters, the current crisis is being driven by rampant gang violence, economic collapse, and the absence of functioning institutions.

Armed groups control much of the capital, forcing thousands to flee their homes. Kidnappings, sexual violence, and hunger are on the rise, and public services such as hospitals and schools have virtually shut down in many areas. For many Haitians, daily life has become a question of whether they can access basic needs or simply stay alive.
